Global Refugee Crisis Forum

November 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Uptown Church Global Refugee Crisis Forum

In light of the current global, national, and political climate surrounding immigration, Uptown Church Chicago and Uplift Community High School are coming together to host a Global Refugee Crisis Forum. The forum will be located at the Wilson Abbey on Monday, November 26th at 7 p.m. Participating in the forum is a panel of speakers from a variety of non-profits including Global Aid Pro, RefugeeOne, Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project, Chicago Public Schools Refugee Support, and more.

The conversation will be centered around answering three questions:

1) What is happening around the world causing people to flee their homelands?
2) How is our country welcoming people and what is happening at our borders?
3) What does resettlement and the road to self-reliance look like in our city and neighborhoods?

The evening will also include a resource fair from many other local non-profits who are looking for volunteers and advocates, as well as a photography display from James Bowey titled, “When Home Won’t Let You Stay.” Come for a powerful evening of conversation and dialogue that will empower us with information and direct us towards effective action.
