Everybody’s Coffee, located at 935 W. Wilson Avenue, Chicago, 60640, is pleased to announce its latest art show: Russian Fairy Tales.
“Russian Fairy Tales” represents 25 unique watercolor monotypes from St. Petersburg-based artist Tamara Repina. Using an uncommon process of watercolor, line drawing—and balloons—Tamara creates a magical world. As a child, she was immersed in the classic Russian fairy tales. When she learned to paint at age 14 Tamara sought to bring these stories to life. Her work introduces a whole cast of characters.
Though inspired by Russian folk tales, Tamara draws from her imagination. After applying the balloon, she looks into the soul of the shapes to conjure a story. Yet her work invites the viewer to add their own narrative.
Tamara Repina is well-known within the St. Petersburg art world. Her paintings have been exhibited not only in St. Petersburg but also Moscow, Finland, and Ukraine. She is currently represented by a number of galleries. She is excited to show her original artwork at Everybody’s Coffee in Chicago and especially to the Russian community located in Uptown.
“Russian Fairy Tales” starts Tuesday, February 27 and runs through April 3. Come discover the magic.
