Your Story Matters Book Launch

April 25 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

There’s a story only you can tell.

Leslie Leyland Fields’ new book Your Story Matters: Finding, Writing, and Living the Truth of Your Life will show you how to tell it.

We’ll be celebrating Your Story Matters with a reading, signing, Q & A, giveaways (Alaskan Salmon, maybe?) and an interview with Tammy Perlmutter of The Mudroom. Admission is free!

All of us are brimming with stories to tell! Did you grow up with an active military parent? Did you feel like you never fit in? Did your grandmother raise you? Did you need an escape and find it in gaming? Did you grow up on a farm you vowed never to return to? Did you spend time living in shelters or in foster care?  Your Story Matters will help you to write it, even if you’ve never written a poem, story, or essay before!

Your Story Matters presents a dynamic and spiritually formative process for understanding and redeeming the past in order to live well in the present and into the future. Leslie Leyland Fields has used and taught this practical and inspiring writing process for decades, helping people from all walks of life to access memory and sift through the truth of their stories. This is not just a book for writers. Each one of us has a story, and understanding God’s work in our stories is a vital part of our faith. Through the spiritual practice of writing, we can “remember” his acts among us, “declare his glory among the nations,” and pass on to others what we have witnessed of God in this life: the mysterious, the tragic, the miraculous, the ordinary. With a companion video curriculum from RightNow Media, this is a “why not” book as opposed to a “how-to” book. Leslie asks each of us an important question: “Why not learn to tell your story, in the context of the grander story of God?”

Leslie is also presenting a writer’s workshop during the day on Saturday, You do not have to attend the workshop to go to the book launch but you are welcome to! You can find more information at Your Story Matters Writing Workshop.
